Motorola is having a great day so far. They’ve managed to beat hardware and software giant Apple at their own game, successfully preventing the company from selling any of their latest cellular and cloud-based computing products in the cozy nation of Germany.
Thanks to a permenant injunction that was filed against Apple, they’re no longer allowed to sell any iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and first-gen 3G iPad from their online store, as well as anything that uses iCloud tech inside of it.
Resulting from seperate legal issues, the first one, as Engadget reports, is from Judge Andreas Voss, who issued the permanent injunction against the iCloud function and any devices that make use of it.
The second, as reported by The Verge, is that Apple must remove all 3G iPads, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4 devices from its online German store, due to a patent held by Motorola essential to the GPRS standard used in the Apple devices.
The iPhone 4S and iPad 2 use different chipsets however, which means that they’ll still be available. Of course Apple is going to appeal the ruling, but in the meantime, it looks the trendy technology company is going to take a major hit in the German markets.
