We take a lot for granted nowadays. Gravity, underwear and fresh beef meat for starters. One of the other things that we can add is eyesight. That’s something that robots have been struggling with for years, as the amount of data needed to receive, input and process the environment around them before they can go on a killing spree is mind-bendingly massive.
Timo Arnall recently put together a video showcasing exactly what it is that a robot sees as they function, pulled from existing computer vision systems.
According to Arnall the video is a method of “exploring the aesthetics of the robot eye”. Its also a great heads-up for those of us who don’t trust the metallic bastards.
