And this is how American astronauts vote

The American elections are right around the corner this week, and while we won't be seeing people downloading iPad apps in order to rock their vote, you can rest assured that NASA is putting tax payers money into a method to allow their astronauts to cast their ballot. Here's how they're doing it.

Could this be the spaceship that takes man to Mars?

Space, the final frontier. Ever since we discovered proper rocket power, mankind has been seeking to conquer the cosmos, to find new worlds and signs of life in this massive galaxy. We've managed to reach the moon and get back. Now, the next great challenge is to go to Mars. And this might be the enterprising spacecraft that takes us there.

Scientists discover an earth-sized planet right next door to us

Well, in galactic measurement terms at least. European astronomers have been doing some stargazing lately, and have recently discoverd that the Alpha Centauri star syste, which is only 4.3 light years away from us, has a planet the same size and shape as earth. Time to launch the ships and go mine for some plotdevicinium we reckon.

He’s done it! Felix Baumgartner leaps from the edge of space and lives!

This morning, I got out of the shower, and freaked out when I saw a spider, calling in to work and claiming that I would need a week off of work due to emotional stress. Felix Baumgartner however, got out of bed last week, strapped on a space-suit, and gave the heavens a look at his ass as he became the first human being to jump down to the surface of the planet, from the edge of space.

Star Trek warp drive space travel may actually be possible

Somebody give science a high-five. When it comes to space travel, we're going somewhere slowly thanks to the vastness of space, because even travelling at the speed of light, were it possible, would still cost us years of time when headed towards new planets. Which is why some eggheads are taking a page out of Star Trek for inspiration. Make it so!

This is what a map of the Internet looks like

The Internet is big, really, really big. I'd have to rip my arms off and have them flown to the ends of the planet to accurately mimic this, before I passed out from blood loss. But picturing that is a PG16 age requirement. Which is why we have the following, more wholesome diagram, which shows off the size of the world wide web far more accurately.

The US Military is working on a cannibal satellite project

Space, the final frontier. Closer to home however, is a lunar environment that is littered with hundreds of dead and discarded satellites. They're pretty much junk, floating around in a Higgs-Bosonic vacuum. But one day, they're also going to be food.

There are portals hidden in our very own electromagnetic atmosphere

The future of space travel won't be with conventional A-B methods of transport, but with something more wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey. We're talking portals, shortcuts through the fabric of space and time itself, tunnels which shoot out massive amounts of energy. And there's quite a few of them above your head already.

NASA to future space explorers” “Get off my lawn!”

NASA has a lot of competition right now, when it comes to exploring space. With Space X proving that commercial space-flights are a possibility, the doors have been opened, for other private enterprises to explore the vast reaches of space. And NASA is kind of cool with that. Provided that these new adventurers keep their mitts off of the junk that NASA left on the moon.

Care for a glass of Space-Wine?

Wine may be an acquired taste, but it's a hell of an expensive taste for those of you serious enough to get into the hobby. From vintage bottles, to premium limited edition variants, and bottles that are centuries old, wine-collecting (and sometimes drinking) is a hobby that requies some serious cash. I don't even want to know how much a bottle of wine that contains a bit of the cosmos in the recipe is going to cost.
